Developed during my graduate school research 2011-2013, this work is a continuation of considerations around the permeability of space as a metaphor for form extension, and the blurred line between inside and out. Based on experiences and time living in Japan (2008-2009), the shoji screen is a catalyst and acts, like all architectural surfaces, as epidermis and intermediary between public/private, and the defined function and interpretation of a space.
